Nobody can answer this question better than yourself.
I’m sure you’ve heard a lot “Follow your Passion!” and I’m also sure that for one moment you were motivated enough to dream how your life will look like if you do what you want, but for how long did this dream stick with you? Not that long, right? If you don’t do the work, you won’t fell passion.
You don’t follow your passion, passion follows your effort!
Please write that down and read it every day till you get the idea. Your Passion is important, yes but if you don’t put in the hours of work and try everything you can to get out of its too hard hamster wheel, you’ll end up frustrated or worse you will put the failure in someone else back.
Do the work, do your work. Plan for it, plan also for failure, be prepared for obstacles because they will come. Do what is hard firs, accomplish a tough goal and finish all the open loops that you have started. Don’t engage in too many small tasks because you will lose your focus and vision for what you want to accomplish. If you do all of these things I promise you, then you will feel passion!
It took me 12 years to finally get it. And yes I’m still not aligned 100 % with the identity I envision for myself. The point is not to stop, but to do the work; to get on your silent path, to go the extra mile, to work when nobody is watching or when all the otters’ party. To get to a level of mastery you need to fail much more than all can think of and then you will understand that they are not failures but lessons, the lessons you needed to become the best version of yourself. Only so will you understand that your time is the only resource you can’t get back or buy with money.
Write down this day in your calendar and your idea based on my article, your own declaration of independence. Write this note to yourself as a reminder, a statement for the rest of your life.
